Sitting high and proud on the north bank of the River Medlock in historic Ancoats, Hope Mill is one of the finest surviving examples of the first fire-proof spinning and weaving mills built in Manchester in the early 19th century. Constructed c1824 for the firm of Joseph Clarke & Sons it’s functional, monolithic, somewhat shabby exterior belies what’s inside – a thriving, buzzing hive of eclectic Mancunian artists and creative businesses.
Owned and operated since 2001 by Hope Mill Partnership LLP this 60,000 sq ft grade II* listed building has been transformed into Manchester’s largest independent centre for the arts and creative industries, providing a home for over 140 individuals and businesses.
